The NTCA staff runs many After School Programs throughout the Metroplex in public, private, and charter schools. The programs include a series of one hour classes with a lesson and supervised play. Topics will include an introduction to the game, a brief history, the rules, basic strategies, students will get to solve chess puzzles, analyze famous matches, and play many games with their peers.
Our instructors use the acronym REDI (Respect, Enthusiasm, Determination, Integrity) to instill the NTCA Core Values into each student. These four words echo throughout all the activities and events we host at the North Texas Chess Academy. So get REDI to play chess!
Similar to the group classes, the School Programs offers the opportunity to learn with your friends and share in the enjoyment of chess. Students are informed and encouraged to compete in tournaments, as well as our bi-annual Winter/Spring Challenge Tournaments for our School Programs. This very popular end of semester event allows the students to celebrate the end of a great program, use the skills we learned throughout the year, and compete for prizes!
